There is a process for car paint repair, and the entire car paint repair process is introduced below:
I. Preparation for car paint repair:
1. Remove work pieces that affect sheet metal and painting;
2. Wash the car thoroughly, and formulate a paint repair process and operating guide according to the coating condition and user requirements;
3. Flatten the sheet metal, and eliminate the uneven defects of the repaired surface as much as possible;
4. Cover the surfaces and windows that do not need to be painted with tape and paper or protective covers;
II. Car paint repair process:
1. Scrape off (remove) the old paint layer on the repair surface, partially exposing the base metal or "whitening", using sanding or paint remover;
2. Wipe or vacuum the surface to remove dirt and fingerprints;
3. Wipe clean with a solvent-dampened cloth to remove oil stains and fingerprints;
4. In demanding situations, spray a thin layer of phosphating primer;
III. Primer layer (including putty smoothing) process:
1. Brush or spray air-drying synthetic resin primer;
2. Air dry, forced drying at 60°C or with infrared radiation;
3. Apply putty to the sheet metal correction parts and recessed paint surfaces (the number of times putty is applied depends on the unevenness of the surface);
4. Air dry, forced drying at 60°C or with infrared radiation;
5. Manually smooth the putty surface using dry sanding or wet sanding, and perform a wet sanding on the entire vehicle surface;
6. Blow dry or bake dry the moisture;
IV. Spraying the intermediate coat:
1. Wipe clean oil stains and dust with a solvent gasoline-dampened cloth and sticky wiping cloth;
2. Spray a coat of intermediate coat;
3. Air dry or forced drying at 60°C or drying with infrared radiation;
4. Partially apply putty to eliminate pinholes and sanding marks in the putty;
5. After the putty layer is dry, wet sand the entire surface and clean it with 360#~400# waterproof sandpaper;
V. Topcoat process:
1. Protect surfaces that do not require topcoat spraying with tape or paper;
2. Wipe clean with a solvent gasoline-dampened cloth or sticky wiping cloth;
3. Spray topcoat;
4. Air dry, or forced drying at 60°C, local repairs use infrared radiation drying;
VI. Final finishing process:
1. Remove protective paper or tape;
2. Inspect the spraying quality and mark the spraying defects;
3. Refine using sanding, polishing, etc., to eliminate defects and remove local spraying haze;
4. Reinstall the parts removed before repair;
5. Clean the interior surface and tires;
The above construction process is a repair process for full painting from bottom to top and after "whitening". For other partial renovations and topcoat renovations, the addition or reduction of any process can be determined based on on-site experience. The number of putty applications depends on the unevenness of the surface to be coated and the type of putty used, and it is also related to the skill and proficiency of the operator. In short, applying too much putty will directly affect the quality of the car paint repair layer, so it is better to use less putty.
